Head In The Clouds was financed for $20m by UK based Spice Factory, Montreal-based Remstar and the film was pre-sold by the Australian Arclight Films, which sold very well to distributors who ended up dumping the film. Sony Pictures Classics picked up US rights and opened the poorly reviewed film in 10 theaters to $46,133 with a not very promising $4,613 per screen average. Head In The Clouds expanded to 20 theaters in its second weekend with diminishing returns to $33,997 and expanded to 47 theaters in its third frame to $57,303. Head In The Clouds never expanded beyond 47 theaters and closed out its run with only $398,278. The film pulled in just $3,112,327 across numerous distributors and many territories did not report its numbers.
