Madison premiered at Sundance in 2001 and sat on the shelf until Passion of the Christ’s success got this Jim Caviezel staring film into release. Addison Street Films financed Madison for $10m and is only notable for being the last film MGM released as an independent company, before being swept up by Sony. MGM went out with a whimper, opening Madison in 93 theaters to $268,370 and the film lasted only three weeks in release with a total of just $517,262. Sony released the film overseas in a only a few markets and sent it straight to video or television.
