New Regency financed this $20m comedy and Fox distributed What’s Your Number? worldwide. Following a successful year with female staring R rated comedies like Bridesmaids, No Strings Attached and Bad Teacher, this Anna Faris starring vehicle tanked opening weekend in the US with $5,421,669 in 3,002 theaters, posting one of the worst numbers in a release over 3,000 theaters. What’s Your Number? finished its run with only $14,011,084, leaving Fox and New Regency with about $7.7m after theaters take their cut of the gross, which wouldn’t even cover 1/3 of the ad spend. What’s Your Number? had little appeal overseas and pulled in $16.4m, posting poor numbers in every territory and leaving most of the worldwide ad spend and the budget in the red.
